Who's Trying To Do This To Our Community

The following are the perpetrators of the land seizure and private development scheme, led by NEIU President - Dr. Sharon Hahs.

3251 West Ardmore
Chicago, Illinois

Sharon Hahs, AKA the “Bully of Bryn Mawr” - is leading the University down a path that reveals a lack of imagination to improve the quality of education and student and faculty experience at NEIU. The land grab scheme is a desperate attempt to cover up the revenue shortfalls created by declining enrollments and years of apparent mismanagement at NEIU by the Hahs administration. The land grab scheme has brought shame on the reputation of NEIU, permanently change the neighborhood and alienate the surrounding community.

Alderwoman Margaret Laurino has participated in the back room planning efforts with President Sharon Hahs and the NEIU Board of Trustees, but she has not engaged the community in a meaningful dialog about the proposed project.  In taking this approach, Alderwoman Laurino has shown she only represents her own political interests and does not represent the homeowners and business owners in the 39th Ward.

The Board of Trustees and their Chairman, Carlos Azcoitia, are complicit in Hahs’ real estate seizure and development plan since they could easily weigh in to tell Hahs to build student housing on the ample land on NEIU’s current 67 acre campus.

Governor Pat Quinn appointed Dr. Sharon Hahs as president of NEIU and he appointed the entire NEIU Board of Trustees. Does he know that his appointees are trying to destroy small businesses and seize private properties from women, minorities and senior citizens?
